Okyeame Kwame

If any Ghanaian celebrity should be busily preparing for a world event at this time of the year, then it should be none other than the Rap Doctor Okyeame Kwame, as the world celebrates hepatitis Day on the 28th July. As a result, Okyeame Kwame and his team are preparing feverishly for this day.
The week-long celebration instituted by Okyeame Kwame in marking the world hepatitis day will be used to create awareness for hepatitis which is a stealthy killer and has therefore made a public appeal to media houses; radio stations, TV stations, bloggers, newspapers and the general public to do the little they can to make sure that the public is sensitized and educated about the dangers of this disease.
He has further appealed the media has discussions on hepatitis B to augment sensitization in the course of the week.
According to WHO, the prevalence rate for hepatitis B is 15% which means 1 out of every 6 Ghanaian is exposed to the virus. Hepatitis B is a viral disease which inflames the liver.
Some of the main causes are exchange of body fluids; blood transfusion and especially sex.
Every year Okyeame Kwame, MDS-Lancet Laboratories and MTN Ghana Foundation conduct clinics around the country, screening and counseling people for free.
This year, supported by Ghana Web Ventures, Japan Motors, DDP,  Vitamilk and CDH  Financial Holdings, 2000 people are expected to be screened for free.
The free screening which is an Okyeame Kwame initiative and powered by One Mic Entertainment is carried by Radio Gold, Live FM, Ghana Music.com, Ghanaweb.com, nydjlive.com, ghanagist.com and peacefmonline.com.
